Surgical screws made from human bone. Shark Screws were originally created by an orthopedist in 2013 but are now being worked on for real-life use. The screws will be made from donated bone with each patient being matched to a particular type. The body will see the screw as bone, rather than a foreign object, reducing the chance of infection and improving recovery time. After around a year, experts say the screw will have completely fused with the patient’s bone and will be invisible on an X-ray.
