Facial recognition glasses
These are glasses with facial recognition technology to spot criminals. So far, just four officers have been equipped with the glasses, called GLXSS. The glasses scan crowds at the city’s busy railroad station and take photos of suspicious characters. Then they run the photograph through a police database to identify known criminals.
They have already arrested 33 people – including seven alleged sex traffickers – using the new technology. A company called LLVision, formed by people from Google, Lenovo, Microsoft, and China Aeronautics Consortium, created the glasses. LLVision says the glasses can also be used in the fields of medicine, energy, education, and technology.
